Africa


Africa is the birth place of coffee. It is the source of many of my favourite beans, and home to some of the most diverse and wonderful coffees in the world. The continent suffers a little in terms of  provenance and stories surrounding its coffees, though it makes up for this with quality in the cup.

Ethiopia is the largest exporter in Africa, with 2.8 million bags between September 2007 and November 2008.

Kenya is seen as one of the leading lights for quality coffees, whilst Rwanda has been noted for its improvements in quality along with its brave step into the Cup of Excellence arena in 2008.

There is so much potential in Africa, and I look forward to further big improvements in coming years.
