We are pleased to announce to those not embroiled in the coffee world, and who may not have heard, that Mr John Gordon of Gorilla Tampers and Square Mile Roasters won this years United Kingdom Barista Championship, with the most amazing of scores, using Has Bean Coffee for his competition blend.

We are proud to have worked with John for the last two years, developing and roasting competition coffee blends. John and Jess, his partner, have become amazing friends to us, and we love working together. We are particularly proud of John, as he has often chosen not to go with the easy, safe options, when choosing coffees for competition. He has pushed the boundaries of what convention has previously considered should be done, and at the same time driven me as a roaster to explore things that I may in normal circumstances have written off. I’m certain that the experience will improve me as a roaster, and it is pleasing therefore to be able to offer you as a customer the chance to play a part in the ever expanding envelope that is speciality coffee.

John has kindly allowed us to share this blend with you for a very limited time. The blend is challenging, and hard to work with, but when it is right it is also very enjoyable. The blend consists of Brazillian Sao Judas Pulped Natural and Indionesian Sidikalang. Taste the coffee that won the UKBC Best Espresso, Best Cappuccino and Best Signature Drink awards as John became the UK Barista Champion 2010.
