One of our most popular espresso blends has been tweaked, improved and polished some. As part of the blend programme, we thought it was time for Perfetio to have some love.

The blend is made for the espresso machine, nothing has changed there, it's still that sweet nutty balanced cup it has always been. As espresso it has sweet chocolate notes, as a milk drink the nuttyness increases, and in the brewed style it's smooth and balanced.

If you have a bean to cup machine this shines as if it was being served from a more traditional machine. It is very forgiving, a wonderful coffee.

In the cup expect body, sweetness and creaminess, chocolate with walnut and a gorgeous finish.

  1. Great for flat white

Posted by Daniel Ekengren on 28th Apr 2012

I like a flat white in the morning and this is a fantastic coffee for this. Intense sweet, chocolate that makes you wonder who smuggled a Cadbury bar into your morning coffee.

  2. sweet and smiley

Posted by Tony Jee on 6th Dec 2011

I love this as an espresso, for me it is perfect - sweet smooth and depth of flavour.

Hasbean recommends for use is bean to cup machines and this beans shines when used in my Jura. I like it as espresso but can also work well in a milk based coffee - i just turn up the machine for a stronger taste. Highly recommend and this is a regular coffee bean that I order

  3. Sorry but bland would not reccommend

Posted by Tristan Booth on 27th Nov 2011

I never gave a poor review before but i just found this bland and generally not a very nice taste. After a few tries it ended up in the bin. The Guatemala El Bosque Amatitlan Red Bourbon 2011-2012 Crop I had the week before was fantastic, smooth and full of taste.

  4. Summer in a cup in years gone by

Posted by Matt Davis on 25th Nov 2011

I haven't tried this blend for nearly 5 years. Having emigrated it gets rather costly to import it. However to the point. This used to be a staple of mine when I first got into Coffee. I recall it being balanced, buttery and chocolatey with this certain brightness in the cup.

Now fast forward to 2011. I received this via my mate Cakeboy. First thing I saw was the roast is a lot lighter than before and more in line with Steves roasting style of late. In the espresso it gave a nuttiness and brightness, but lacked more of the balance of the original. There was a reasonable body there, but I feel there could be more if taken just that little more further into the roast. However this could purely reflect a change in my palate as the roasts here in NZ tend to be a little darker.

What it does have and still carries is the 'Summer in a cup' description myself and Cakeboy came up with. It is an easy going brew that it accessable and bombproof enough for beginers in the coffee world.

Coffee evoleves each year and with each crop and Perfetio is no exception. It is great to see it still around and holding true. Nice effort Steve. Hopefully won;t wait another 5 years beofre I try it again!

  5. This or Jailbreak I can't decide

Posted by Greg Faulkner on 15th Aug 2011

I'm no expert I've just recently brought a delongi bean to cup machine after our senseo machine packed in but I wanted to add a review here for a couple of reasons.

Basically I googled fresh coffee beans when I got my new machine, Has Bean came up in the results, so I thought meh this stuff is 5 quid a bag and its only 3 in the supermarket then I thought,I'm in Cannock, they're in Stafford its fresh and its a (fairly) local business I'll try a couple bags.

Wow! Am I glad I tried it. This is hands down the best coffee I've had anywhere. As I said earlier I'm no expert my experience of drinking coffee is from my previous senseo machine and Costa or Starbucks. My Delongi and these beans produce better coffee than I've had at any of these places.

The second reason for my glowing praise is the service. My stuff was delivered well packaged and quickly. First order came in less than 48 hours, second order (less than a week later)they very kindly let me collect, I actually panicked I'd run out over the weekend. Mad. The roastery smelt sooo good.

I want to mention one more thing before this review turns into a novel.

My delongi machine packed in, I was so annoyed it broke after such a short time. Normally I would have just got a refund(amazon are pretty good) and wrote it off as a bad choice but I had 2 bags of Jailbreak and 2 bags of Espresso blend left I wouldn't have been able to use so I just had them send me a replacement machine hahaha

    Cheers

    Greg

PS The Jailbreak blend is wicked as well so I'm going to copy paste this review there as I can't decide yet which is my number 1 :-)

  6. Tremendous discovery

Having purchased this blend on a whim I was very pleasantly surprised by the depth of flavour. Works very well as an espresso base to my flat white imitations.

  7. Goes Between Your Legs

Posted by Scarlett Parker on 25th May 2011

What the cupping notes failed to prepare me for, was getting nutmegged by this coffee. [/don't usually do football analogies]

Sweet and spicy freshly grated nutmeg all over the finish of this one, quickly running riot over the chocolatey body. I'll look forward to drinking this one in the morning, during the coldest winter months.
