It offers extremely good value for money and most importantly excellent espresso. For many years I have been trying to obtain stock of these at Has Bean but until now I have been unable to do so. So I’m now very pleased to have them available from stock for immediate delivery. Not only does this machine perform well, but with its stainless steel body, it also looks the part.

What a great machine. Superb build quality, and consistent espresso shots. Without wishing to throw caution to the wind, I've yet to not make an excellent coffee with it! and I intend to run it for several years to come.
However, if you're thinking of getting one, an investiment in a very good quality burr grinder, freshly roasted beans and a top tamper are equally (if not more) important to get anything like the best out the silvia (Or, indeed, any espresso machine)

As has been said, the virtues need not be rehearsed. But mine has been honorably retired in favour of a gaggia bean to cup machine. The immediate cause was happenstance - the plumbing leaked in the room above and shorted out the silvia's boiler. But I never switched back even after I fixed the boiler. I found myself very ready to give up the last degree of excellence for speed (no more waiting for the thing to heat through first thing in the morning, when you are gagging for coffee); convenience (no more slaving in the kitchen while your dinner-guests drum their fingers); and general lack of hassle (no more bleating from your loved ones about coffee grounds all over the worktop). I don't regret buying mine: but I suspect I might if I'd paid for it new today, rather than secondhand five years ago

I came to this machine as a complete novice. I'd never made espresso before, my first experience with half decent coffee was with a DeLonghi bean to cup machine off Amazon.
Well 3 DeLonghi machines actually, they all failed within a month. The problem for me was that those initial DeLonghi machines led me to find Has Bean and their coffee and once I'd started drinking the good stuff I couldn't go back.
So here I am, its been a couple of weeks since I put my Amazon refund towards this machine.
The machine itself is solid, it weighs a ton! Locking in the portafilter (check me out, I even know the names of stuff now) doesn't move the machine it stays firmly planted and doesn't budge. I got the dosserless rocky grinder to go with it and the base unit which they both sit on nicely, the base unit makes a decent knock box(there I go again with the buzz words)
How about performance? Well if you're thinking of getting one you'll no doubt have read the thousands of glowing reviews on the internet. Its all pretty much true. The Silvia takes a little bit of getting used to if your a novice but I was turning out perfect shots within a day of getting it. Its just a matter of getting the grind settings right and tamping(Haha, its getting like buzzword bingo now) at the right pressure consistently. I have the rocky set on 9 for espresso I grind a nice heaped amount into the portafilter, smooth it over with my finger then tamp it down. I get 2 perfect 1oz shots in 25-27 seconds every time now using the double basket.
The steam function works well, compared to the bean to cup machine I had its much more powerful, it takes a bit of practice but its possible to produce nice microfoam with it with a much more dense texture than I ever got from the DeLonghi.
I can't say enough good things about Has Bean. Take the length of this review as a good indicator to how pleased I am with the service I got from them. Steve patiently put up with the questions I asked him, his passion for his product sets this company apart.
I highly recommend the Rocky grinder and Silvia espresso machine combo and Has Bean Coffee.
Greg
PS I'm using Jailbreak & Brazilian Espresso Perfetio beans, both are fab.

I shan't review the machine as everyone on the web tells you the Rancilio Silvia is the best domestic machine around, but unfortunately, hardly anyone in this country sells it. The two main sellers that come up under Google look really good until you do a search on customer experiences and the result is a litany of unanswered emails, waiting for delivery for weeks, legal action, small claims courts, and recommendations not to buy from them. I decided not to get the machine when I happened upon Has Bean, a one coffee machine retailer and a helluva lot of beans. Not promising. I Googled for customer problems and couldn't find any, instead seeing one glowing comment after another about the company. I emailed them and a reply came from Steve in TWO minutes! That was a fluke, but still impressive. Next day I took my life into my hands and at 11.11 ordered a machine, grinder and a whole host of bits and bobs. TWO minutes later an email said my order had been processed. That's pretty standard. TWENTY minutes later at 11.33 came an email saying Order Status Changed. Obviously they were out of stock, I knew it...but no, it said awaiting shipment! That's not possible; 20 minutes after receiving an order of nine items it's ready for shipment? They must be lying. Then at 15.46 another email saying Item Shipped. What?!! Then at 10.20 the next day, less than 24hours later, Fed Ex arrived!!! Simply unbelievable. The cost of the machine and grinder is around £40 dearer at Hasbean than the other two retailers, but that is a small price to pay for this level of service. If you love hassle and stress then look for a Rancilio elsewhere. If you want an extraordinary level of service and a machine in your hands within 24 hours then this is the best extra 40 quid you will ever spend.
