Alejandro Martinez - El Salvador Finca Argentina OCTOBER 2012

For the past few years now, I always go to El Salvador. I go because there is some amazing coffee there, and we do buy quite a lot of it. But Its the only place I go to each year, and this is because I have some special friends. Non more so that Alejandro Martinez, who has become a real buddy.

The farm is based in the Apaneca-Ilamtepec mountain range near to the town of Turin in the Auchapan dept. During the non-picking season 16 people work on the farm maintaining and tending to the plants. During the picking period this goes up to 50 people. The altitude of the farm is 1350m. The coffee is a naturally processed coffee and is sun dried on patios.

The coffee is a 100% Bourbon, as 70% of plant stock in El Salvador is. This heirloom varietal is one of the reasons why coffee from this country is right up amongst some of the best in the world. They have the perfect climate and conditions for this low yielding, high maintenance strain.

The special relationship this year with Alejandro was solidified this year with him coming to visit us at the roastery, and in turn visited one of our customers in Manchester to record an in my mug

We have the Washed, Pulped natural and natural from this farm, and hope to continue to build on our strong relationship in the future (and maybe another visit or two)
