January 2014 - The Shrewsbury Coffeehouse: Acidity Squirrel

This is the first in a new line of coffee shop guest coffee blends that we are introducing in 2014. Each month there will be a new blend from one of our wholesale customers.

The first one comes from The Shrewsbury Coffeehouse that's based, funnily enough, in Shrewsbury.

Because the folks there wanted to provide the best possible coffee experience for their customers, they chose to work with Has Bean right from day 1. They originally served Jabberwocky to the people of Shrewsbury but more recently created their own blend called Acidity Squirrel.

The Coffeehouse also proudly hosts 'Single Origin Sundays' as a way of showcasing different coffees and allowing customers to try something new and exciting each week.

In its current configuration the blend aims to deliver an overall sense of balance. There are fruity red berry notes with a touch of boozy fruit, with controlled brightness throughout the cup. The name came from random memories mixed with a desire to control acidity and a love of squirrels (they’re feisty little fellas, you wouldn’t want to mess with one), alongside former head barista Simon's fondness of saying the letter s.

50% Nicaragua Finca Limoncillo Pulped Natural Cattura
30% Guatemala Finca San Sebastián Natural Bourbon
20% Colombia Paraiso.

In the cup expect some kick-ass acidity, red berries and a little bit of booze, while never forgetting its name.
