July 2014 - The Attic: Kraftwerk

Throughout 2014 I'm very happy to be sharing a range of different special blends with you all.  "What makes them special Steve?" I hear you ask, well...it's quite rare to be able to get your hands on shop blends, they like to protect them and keep them clutched close to their chest.  Each month throughout 2014 we're offering a different blend from 1 of our amazing wholesale customers who's happy to share their blend with you.

For the month of July we're taking a trip up north to the wonderful city of York to visit a long time friend, G at Cafe Harlequin for their special Le Tour Yorkshire blend Kraftwerk.

Tucked away on the second floor above The Harlequin Cafe on York’s historic King’s Square is The Attic - a tiny experience driven place fuelled by the most diverse and interesting coffees, craft beers from the US, Europe and the best UK brewers, and whisky’s chosen for their splendour (oh and pork pie). Gordon Howell, coffee legend and UK Coffee in Good Spirits champion, helms this operation and his passions shine throughout.  Harlequin are some of our longest standing wholesale partners, and more than that, both Gordon and Marie have become very special and very close friends. Truly mixing business with pleasure ;)

The blend is a 70 / 30 split of 2 coffees that I absolutely love on their own, together they are a force to be reckoned with!

70% El Salvador Finca La Fany Washed Bourbon
30% Ethiopia Shakiso Mormora Plantation Washed

In the cup expect sweet caramel and milk chocolate base, with a delicious underline of lime that just lingers on an on.

I'm sure after reading all this you're keen to find out more about these wonderful people up in York, make sure to click on the following links...
