Each month throughout 2014 we're taking a tour around the country to visit some of our fantastic amazing super duper wholesale customers and sharing their custom blends. So often you're not able to get your hands on the delicious beans coffee shops make your drinks with so we wanted to share some of them with you all throughout the year.
For the month of September we get to take a lovely trip to Hertfordshire to visit Hermitage Road.
Hermitage Road is both a small speciality focussed cafe, situated at street level and a large beautiful modern restaurant spreading across the huge first floor, within the town centre of Hitchin, Hertfordshire.
The site was originally built and known as The Hermitage Ballroom and has had a somewhat varied, and occasionally illustrious, music history including a performance from Eric Clapton and the Cream in the 1960s. The venue was closed in the summer of 2010 after being unsuccessfully run as a nightclub remained closed until Howard and team opened the restaurant here as part of their group of award winning pubs and restaurants.
Whilst the cafe downstairs is fronted by Sarah and Gary and delivers fantastic espresso and brewed coffee, it's well worth booking a table upstairs for some of the finest oysters and pork you'll ever taste
Their blend is a 70 / 30 split of 2 delicious coffees, 1 that's now exclusively found in this blend and another that ticks all the boxes for me, red AND a pacamara!
70% El Salvador Finca La Fany Washed Bourbon
30% Nicaragua Finca Limoncillo Washed Red Pacamara
In the cup this is the perfect balance of red fruit acidity and milk chocolate sweetness, working in perfect harmony. An amazing blend from an amazing shop.
