A high quality stainless steel or gold cone filter to replace those pesky paper filters, fits perfectly in your Chemex!
In a normal cone shaped filter, water flow tends to be gathered at the base of the filter. In order to prevent over extraction the base of a Cores cone filter is raised so the water flows outwards, and does not gather in the central lower area.
Tip of the filter is flat
Other cone shaped filters
A filter with small round mesh holes can easily be clogged by coffee particles. Because of this water cannot flow outwards, and flows inside the filter and gathers in the central lower area. When this happens you can end up with your coffee being over extracted, bleurgh!
Round mesh filter If coffee particles become trapped in the round mesh then the hole can become clogged. As a result, water does not flow smoothly.
Water Water flow tends to gather at the base of the filter, so the coffee tends to be over extracted in the lower area of the filter.
Cores Cone Filter
Longitudinal slot of Cores Filters Thanks to the longitudinal slot, even if a coffee particle becomes stuck in the slot the hole is not clogged. As a result, water flows smoothly.
Water Because the lower area of filter is flat the water can flow outwards and not gather at the central lower area of the filter. That is to say, water can contact with the ground coffee particles uniformly. And more, thanks to the longitudinal slots, the Cores Cone Filter can provide shorter brew times.
All the slots are punched from inside to outside direction, so water flow from inside to outside is smoother.
Who are Cores?
In 2012, Oishi and Associates Ltd. launched “Cores”, a brand for coffee-related appliances and tools, hoping for many people to enjoy their coffee time by using good quality appliances with ease. They believe the original taste of coffee can be enhanced by using special appliances.
What does Cores mean? Lets ask the lovely people from Oishi and Associates Ltd..."“Cores” means “color” in Portuguese. Cores put our wishes in this brand name that want many people to enjoy their coffee life in their own way by adding color with our Cores products and want them to know much more about coffee’s allure."
