We’re really excited that in 2017 we’ve launched our SCA Coffee Diploma System Education Program with a series of dates focussed on the Brewing Skills modules.

The Foundation level introduces candidates to t he study of brewing with different methods. From Chemex and siphon to Clever Dripper and French press. In addition, this module allows you to get hands-on and learn to analyse your grind profile, match your grind to your brewing method and to scientifically measure coffee strength and chart a coffee’s extraction.

Progression through the Intermediate and Professional levels allows candidates to gain a deeper understanding of elementary aspects of coffee grinding, effects of roasting on the coffee, strength & extraction, water quality and understanding by-pass brewing.

The Intermediate level is designed for baristas already working behind a coffee bar. The Professional level is built for students who have already achieved Intermediate certification. Our training has been developed to be accessible to all students and encompasses a wide range of learning styles, culminating in written and practical exams.

  • SCA CDS - Brewing - Foundation: 15th January (4 spaces) - 4 spaces remaining
  • SCA CDS - Brewing - Intermediate: 27th - 28th March (4 spaces) - 4 spaces remaining
  • SCA CDS - Brewing - Professional: 5th - 7th March (3 spaces) - 3 spaces remaining

The cost of all courses includes the SCA certification fee.

All training will take place at our roastery outside Stafford, courses will run from 0900 - 1700 with a lunch break. Lunch will be provided for those attending the Foundation course during their 30 minute break but no lunch will be provided for those attending the Intermediate and Professional courses on their 1 hour breaks, light refreshments will be available throughout the day for all courses.

Training is conducted by Sonali Tailor, AST, our field trainer and an authorised UK judge. Sonali has managed a number of coffee bar operations and developed coffee programs for leading UK retailers throughout her career as well as representing her coffee skills on the Cup Taster and Coffee Master stages.
