Cafetiere Brew Guide

Basic Recipe

Coffee: 56g - Coarse grind
Water: 750g, 90-95ºC

  1. Add coffee & 200g of hot water and leave for 30 seconds
  2. Add the remaining 550g of water, brew for 4 minutes
  3. Stir once to break the crust
  4. Place on plunger and wait for 10-15 seconds
  5. Plunge and serve

Step 1

Heat the kettle to 90-95ºC and warm the cafetiere and mug. Discard warming water.


Step 2

With the cafetiere on scales, add 56g of coarse ground coffee. Then add 200g of hot water.Leave for 30 seconds


Step 3

Add the remaining 550g water and brew for 4 minutes  


Step 4

Stir once to break the crust and place on the plunger. Wait 10-15 seconds.


Step 5

Gently plunge and pour. To prevent over brewing, pour any left over coffee into a jug or thermos
