We were first introduced to the people and farm behind one of our most popular coffees, Ana Sora, in 2016 through the importers we worked with, and we haven’t looked back since!
Ana Sora is owned by second-generation coffee farmer, Israel Degefa. Israel grew up surrounded by coffee and deeply appreciates both the land and people who help produce it. His father was a mill manager and his mother sold coffee to commuters at the local bus station. Today, Israel is CEO of producing and exporting company Kerchanshe which is known in the community for consistently reinvesting in infrastructure and processes to yield excellent specialty coffee. Israel aims to support his employees through teaching them about farming and agriculture, paying well-above fair wages, and reinvesting 10% of annual profits into social programs like building schools and clean water to the community.
