We’ve been sourcing from the beautiful Finca El Potrero since 2011 and have enjoyed getting to know the owner of the Puente Tarrazú mill, Don Rudolpho Rivera.
The family’s farm is situated in Costa Rica’s Tarrazú valley, known for its incredible Costa Rica coffee production, and as a coveted scenic location amongst locals. The Tarrazú region is steep and lush, sitting about 1,600 meters above sea level and with 20 hectares of coffee farms owned by Rudolpho.
The Rivera family’s mill processes coffee from their own farms, including Finca El Potrero, and several of the neighbouring families. The Geisha plants have been allowed to grow tall and flexible on the farm, which lets the coffee plants create their own shade. The family also grow plenty of citrus fruits to keep a diverse range of plants and help give back nutrients to the soil and retain water.
