  • The Exclusive and Exotic Varietals Collection (EEVC) was organised to celebrate some of the best lots produced in Costa Rica's last harvest. With many of our long time partners taking part in the competition to get into the auction, we were keen to look at the samples and indeed place some bids.

    There was one lot which really stood out on from the 40 lots we cupped as unique. This cup was one I loved (have a look at our scores!) and when we revealed where it was from, we immediately understood why.

    This is their first ever experiment with a Natural processed coffee and they picked their Kenya (SL-28) to do it with. It pays off perfectly, marrying delicate natural processing and body with the distinctive blackcurrant and blackberry notes of the varietal and the intense sweetness of Costa Rica's Western Valley.

    There was only 46 kg of this produced and when it went up for auction, we knew we wanted it. It was expensive, but this is a truly unique and exciting opportunity to taste a Costa Rican coffee unlike any other. It is also the pinnacle (so far!) of the work of Carlos, Maria and their family in producing spectacular coffees and a special moment to recognise all the hard work and energy they have put into the farm to achieve this. Congratulations team ARBAR!

    An exceptionally elegant and clean natural which screams blackberry crumble. Delicate hints of lime add complexity onto the layers of sweet, soft brown sugar. But the juicy blackberries are the star here and provide a beautifully balanced but full flavour cup.

    Medium - through first and you're looking for the middle of the gap when you finish the roast.

  • This coffee is sold in 125g bags, not in our regular 250g bags.

    If you place an order before 07:30, it will be roasted and dispatched that day. If you order after 07:30, it will carry over to the following working day for roasting.
