Ep. 759 Ethiopia Telila Yukro Honey

Lemon, lime, floral, honey

Jimma is home to the Jimma Agricultural Research Centre (JARC). This is the home of coffee plant research and development in Ethiopia. Coffee plant varietals is a tricky conversation in Ethiopia, where there is a huge range of genetic diversity in plants, and we often have to describe them as “heirloom”. These might be truly wild plants, but in many cases these are actually plants which came originally from the JARC selective breeding programs. Two of the most famous selections from JARC, popular throughout Ethiopia and which make up this lot are JARC 74110 & JARC 74112 (catchy name, right!!).

A bright zing of lemon and lime starts things off with soft floral notes following on. Silky body and honey sweetness combine in the finish before the citrus comes back with a grapefruit aftertaste.

Roast Information
Medium - slow this down a little as it goes through first crack, letting in run into the gap but keeping it before you reach second. This one isn't very forgiving of underdevelopment and can easily roast too quickly, so watch out for that.
